Your Deferred Compensation Plan Account and Marketing Emails from Non-City Providers

City employees periodically report receiving emails and other solicitations offering retirement planning or investment services from service providers not affiliated with the City’s Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP). You should be aware that the City contracts with a single entity, Voya Financial (Voya) to provide DCP administration, recordkeeping, communications, and local counseling services. The City’s contract with Voya ensures that Voya and its representatives act strictly in the best interests of DCP participants and do not receive compensation or incentives related to any DCP investments. This may not be the case with outside financial service providers, who may be compensated from investments they direct you to.

The City of Los Angeles’ dedicated group of Voya Local Counselors are listed below:

We urge all City employees to exercise caution when you receive any emails or other solicitations that:

  • Are not sent from Voya or the official DCP email address of la457@lacity.org.

  • Imply a relationship of a vendor or contractors, other than Voya, with the DCP.

  • Offer "free" consultation services related to the DCP or retirement benefits.

If you receive a suspicious email:

  • Do not click on any links or attachments.

  • Mark the email as SPAM in your email client.

  • Do not provide any personal information when solicited in the email.

  • Report all suspicious emails to your department's information technology staff.
