Foodies and Finance Spotlight: San Pedro Meals on Wheels, San Pedro (South LA)

While we take the month of October to talk about the importance of preparing and saving for retirement, it’s equally important to recognize that many Angelenos we share our city with do not have financial resources to feed themselves or their family - much less save money for retirement. With our “Foodies and Finance” theme for National Retirement Security Month 2022, the DCP is bringing forward a “spotlight” series highlighting LA-based food banks we all can get involved with.

San Pedro Meals on Wheels, San Pedro (South LA)

The purpose of San Pedro Meals on Wheels is to supply nourishing meals at a minimum cost to people who are unable to cook, drive, shop, or leave their home for temporary or longer periods of time. Although many patrons are retired, Meals on Wheels is a service for anyone who is unable to prepare a nutritious meal. This could include long-term disability or chronic illness, or it may be someone recovering from hospitalization, who is house-bound for a period of time.
