Foodies and Finance Spotlight: West Valley Food Pantry, Woodland Hills (West Valley)

While we take the month of October to talk about the importance of preparing and saving for retirement, it’s equally important to recognize that many Angelenos we share our city with do not have financial resources to feed themselves or their family - much less save money for retirement. With our “Foodies and Finance” theme for National Retirement Security Month 2022, the DCP is bringing forward a “spotlight” series highlighting LA-based food banks we all can get involved with.

During the Covid-19 crisis, the WVFP fed over 11,000 people a month, via their drive through food line and homeless service - and their work still continues. The WVFP has over 200 volunteers serving about 2-1/2 hours per shift. They take delivery of food shipments, stock shelves, validate client eligibility, as well as assist in the daily distribution. Their efforts are made possible by the contributions of both food and money received from the local community and our coalition members. Donations are always welcome as they strive to ensure that "No one goes away hungry".
